If you're still curious about what makes me tick, here are some
Things I'm Passionate About: in no certain order:
Writing (hard to do)
Ghosts (yes, I believe)
Good Books (hard to find)
Old Hotels, Theaters and Department Stores
Clever Conversation and Witty Repartee delivered in double time
Strong Cocktails and the good healthy buzz that comes with
Good Chicken Fried Steak
Romance + Mystery
The mystery, rituals and endurance of the Catholic Church
Classic Movies
Old Friends and the new ones I'll meet
Jean Harlow
M-G-M from 1924 to 1986
Los Angeles History
Paris, France (what, you thought I meant Texas?)
The 1980's, The 20's, The 30's, and tomorrow
2 Cheese Enchiladas with rice, refried beans(aka a #7), flour tortillas and butter on the side, and 2 double house margaritas on the rocks from El Coyote.
Things that Drive Me Nuts:
Misspelled words(is that misspelled?), errors in fact and the absence of simple research to correct those erroneous facts.
People who say 'El Lay' versus 'Los Angeles' (personally I prefer 'Lohs An-jell-eeze but that's a bit Over the Top)
A Lack of Common Sense
Disorganization
Pretentiousness
Bad Manners
Men or Women who Can't Hold Their Liquor, Drugs, or other Bad Habits
Professional ' Victims' (that would be you folks who were abused by priests and nuns, collected a healthy settlement and find you're still fucked up so you continue to harass the church.) I am truly sorry. I will pray for you, but get off the cross; someone else needs the wood.
Blogs fascinate me, and despite what you may infer after this, I read them too. They're like snooping into some one's diary, but alas, like a diary they're usually interesting only to the person writing them-with some exceptions. If you know the person, that gives a little edge, but it can also reveal facets of the author's personality best hidden.
Here in Los Angeles it seems Every One has a blog: but absolutely nothing to say. The fact that many bloggers (and certainly not all) feel the universe revolves around them is intriguing. So Deliciously and Terribly 80's.
Tom Dolby, author of The Trouble Boy, wrote an excellent piece in the San Francisco Chronicle about the Effect of Blogs on the creative spirit, and I pretty much agreed with him. Alas, Little Tommy has his own blog now (Dolblog). Even the mighty fall.
In order to contribute to the Orphans of Harrington Park community-- (the publisher of TMOS has been merged into oblivion and I'm now 'out of print')--
I had to create a Live Journal account, and thus, decided to fill out their little on line form. I can't promise you any sense of regular postings, although I do like their 'writer's block' question of the day--or that my thoughts are anything worth reading. For salacious stuff, you'll have to track down my secret identity's/alter-ego LJ page to get the hot stuff...assuming there is one.

Dreams really do come true. Me on the stairs at 512 N. Palm Drive, Beverly Hills, better known as Jean Harlow's last home. How the hell did a kid from Dallas make it here? Thanks be to God.
